Types of Nondestructive Testing Provided

Ultrasound

You may have heard of ultrasound being used for seeing a baby during a pregancy. Interestingly, using ultrasound for nondestructive testing is an incredibly similar process. By shooting ultrasound into a part and listening to the sound either through the otherside or what reflects back, we can interpret the changes in sound to create an image that can show internal cracks and other defects that would otherwise be invisible.

Eddy Current

Eddy current testing senses electromagnetic induction on conductive metals. Using rods to develop an impedance plane, eddy current has the advantage of being highly sensitive and requiring no contact. This method is very effective for engines with complex surfaces. It can also be used to checking coating thicknesses.
